MATCH REPORT| MAFCO FC 2 - 0 Chitipa United FC

Despite a bright first-half display, Chitipa United FC suffered a 2-0 defeat to MAFCO FC in an FDH Bank Premiership encounter at Champion Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts found the breakthrough immediately after the restart when Clifford Msowoya opened the scoring in the 46th minute after being introduced at half-time. Three minutes later, the forward doubled MAFCO’s advantage with a well-taken finish after reacting quickest to a rebound off the post.

Chitipa United had shown promise in the opening half and created several opportunities before the break. Joseph Mbaga tested goalkeeper Owen Mbale with a powerful strike in the 12th minute, while Friday Osagie also came close in the 41st minute, forcing another fine save from the MAFCO shot-stopper.

The visitors continued to search for a way back into the match in the second half, introducing Olamba Mgesi and Vitumbiko Katuya just before the hour mark. A promising move involving Katuya and Ngese in the 74th minute nearly produced a response, but Muyira failed to apply the finishing touch.

MAFCO, however, remained dangerous throughout and nearly added a third goal late on, with John Banda producing an important save to deny Zikani Sichinga in the 77th minute.

The defeat leaves Chitipa United still searching for consistency as attention now shifts to the next FDH Bank Premiership assignment which is against Mighty Wanderers at home this coming weeekend
