Match Report: CHITIPA UNITED 1-0 CIVIL SERVICE UNITED

Chitipa United FC returned to winning ways with a determined 1-0 victory over CIVO United in the FDH Premiership on Friday afternoon, with Zenga Manda’s spectacular second-half strike proving the difference at full time.

Chitipa settled into the match well and controlled possession in the opening stages while CIVO remained organised defensively. The hosts nearly found the breakthrough in the 28th minute when Friday Osagie beat the goalkeeper with a dangerous effort, but a CIVO defender reacted quickly to clear the ball off the line and keep the scores level. Nelson Sikaona also came close later in the half after a flowing team move, but his final effort sailed over the bar.

Despite both sides pushing forward, the match went into the break goalless. Chitipa, however, returned for the second half with greater intensity and finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Zenga Manda produced an acrobatic finish inside the box to send the home supporters into celebration.

The goal lifted the confidence of the hosts, who continued to press while remaining solid defensively. Head Coach later introduced fresh legs as Vitumbiko Katuya replaced Olamba Ngese before Augustin Njogoroh came on for Joseph Mbagha. Temitope Ojenyika also replaced goal scorer Zenga Manda late in the match as Chitipa professionally managed the closing stages.

CIVO searched for a late equaliser, but Chitipa United’s defence stood firm to secure all three points and continue their impressive home form.

At the final whistle, defender Wilfred Mwakasinga was named Player of the Match following a commanding display at the back, bouncing back strongly after being substituted at half-time during Chitipa’s previous away fixture in Rumphi.

This week, we travel to Mponela to play MAFCO at Champion stadium on Sunday the 24th of May, 2026
